Shadows of the Past: Leicester
East Airfield by Ken
Harriman
A
beautifully illustrated 32 page booklet covering all aspects
of the airfield's development, during the Second World War.
Ken immediately sets out to set straight the facts, and dispel
the myths, that can surround such an enigmatic aerodrome. He
provides a comprehensive insight into the various Squadron's
based at Stoughton, and the activities which took place there,
along with dates and accounts of numerous air crashes, in the
area. Ken includes an additional account of the ill-fated Boeing
B-17 Flying Fortress 'Fearless Fosdick', which crashed just
outside the aerodrome heading on a potential course towards
the city centre! |
