Shadows of the Past: Leicester East Airfield by Ken Harriman

A beautifully illustrated 32 page booklet covering all aspects of the airfield's development, during the Second World War. Ken immediately sets out to set straight the facts, and dispel the myths, that can surround such an enigmatic aerodrome. He provides a comprehensive insight into the various Squadron's based at Stoughton, and the activities which took place there, along with dates and accounts of numerous air crashes, in the area. Ken includes an additional account of the ill-fated Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress 'Fearless Fosdick', which crashed just outside the aerodrome heading on a potential course towards the city centre!
This is an excellent read and a must for anyone who's interested in this part of Leicestershire's history.
