An extract from an A.R.P. Report, dated 31st October 1940.
|
|
"Region
has reported that the dropping of high explosive bombs at Cosby followed
immediately on the admitted showing of lights in the village street
while the enemy bomber was overhead, and too much stress cannot be laid
on the black-out, and the satisfactory screening of lights on the road."

"
On Sunday afternoon September the 22nd at about 16.30 hours houses at
Kibworth were machine-gunned from a low altitude and the raider proceeded
in the direction of East Langton by Hallaton to Horninghold finding
machine-gun targets on the way in the shape of motorists, cyclists and
blackberry-pickers. This episode followed an unsuccessful attempt by
the raider to bomb the L.M.S. Railway near East Langton. No casualties
