Our monthly snapshot
of a Leicestershire village, as recorded on the Civil Defence damage
report map, stored at Beaumanor Hall, Leicestershire.
An A.R.P. report reveals that during November 1940, an Oil bomb was
dropped in the southern fields of Sapcote village. However, extensive
searches have not shed light on the other bombs shown on the Civil
Defence map.
Blue pins show areas which were hit by high explosive (H.E.) bombs.
Red pins usually indicate areas affected by incendiary bombs, but
in this case, might be representing the Oil bomb. |
